The attackers claimed the lives of 15 civilians and injured 40 more, marking the deadliest terrorist incident in Australia’s history. With Australia’s last mass shooting being almost 30 years-ago, shock rippled through the community. Throughout the week following the attack, the community came together to reflect, grieve and heal from the tragedy.

The tension reached a breaking point during Trump’s Midway Blitz, which began on September 8 and continued for more than two months, reshaping daily life and leaving communities to navigate a new, precarious reality. This report documents early 2025 through the days immediately following the launch of Trump’s Midway Blitz.

Ahead of this transition it opened its doors for an open house welcoming back members of the deaf community that had spent their Sundays in the pews of the historic building one last time.

Towards the end of their freshman year, the class participates in the U.S. Naval Academy Sea Trials which consists of 14-15 hours of physical and mental challenges including crawling through mud and combat. To officially mark the end of freshman year, Plebes then participate in the Herndon Monument Climb where they work together to climb a 21-foot greased monument to replace a “dixie cup” hat at the top with an upperclassman’s hat. After the rigorous four-year program, midshipmen graduate from the Naval Academy and begin their service in the US Navy or Marine Corps.
