John Kirtley

John Kirtley founded Sound Of Life Media in 2016 to spread his passion for the importance of high-quality visual storytelling in television news. He enjoys helping his clients achieve their goals in local markets all over the country and at the national level. John told stories throughout the country, from Myrtle Beach, SC to Portland, OR, finishing his newsroom career as the Assistant Chief Photojournalist at WLOS-TV in Asheville, NC. In his decade-long career as a storyteller, he won numerous awards, including 10 Emmy’s, 5 Edward R. Murrow awards and was named the NPPA’s Ernie Crisp Photojournalist of the Year - Runner-up, the industry's highest honor for photojournalism. John has spoken at workshops throughout the country, was the co-director of the NPPA Southeast Storytelling Workshop and is the director of the annual Sound of Life Storytelling Workshop. John lives in Asheville, NC with his wife and three children. He loves supporting independent music, sports (go Duke, Hornets, Braves, Dolphins!) and a family beach trip.

Whitney Blake Tyler

Throughout my nearly 20 years in broadcast news, I’ve had the opportunity to work with some of the best in the business. I worked my way up through the markets. Starting out as a production assistant at KAIT in Jonesboro, AR, then Editor at WLOS in Asheville, NC, photographer at WPDE in Myrtle Beach, SC as well as at WATN (WPTY) in Memphis, TN, and where I am currently working at KMBC in Kansas City, MO. I went to Arkansas State University and majored in Radio/TV with an emphasis in Audio/Video Production. My love is for the edit. I have won 7 Regional Emmys with 2 of those being for News Editor. Outside of news, I enjoy playing Mario Kart with my 5-year-old daughter and working on my business, Moments Media, LLC.

Shweta Gulati

Shweta Gulati is a video producer and editor on the immersive experiences team at National Geographic. In her role, she has spent time working across platforms including Instagram, TikTok, and the Nat Geo website to create video-led editorial stories. Her work has been recognized by Pictures of the Year International, The Society of Publication Designers, and NPPA Best of Photojournalism awards. With a Master of Science in Multimedia, Photography, and Design from Syracuse University, and a Master of Computer Science from the University of Texas, Austin, Shweta brings a unique blend of technical and creative skills to her work.

Dan Holland

Dan Holland worked in TV News as a videographer for 20 years. Covered events such as Buffalo 5/14 Mass Shooting, Erie Pizza Bomber and travel for sports coverage with the Buffalo Bills. Won a National Edward R Murrow for Excellence in Video this past October.
