For the Hopi people farming and corn in particular, is not just for sustenance but an integral part of their culture & religion. For 2,000 years, the Hopi have been growing corn in an arid landscape, relying on the rains. For many Hopi, growing corn in this traditional dry farming method of no irrigation has become more challenging as the Southwest enters its third decade of drought, threatening their farming traditions.
In Arizona, Laiken Jordahl, a campaigner with the Center for Biological Diversity, says border wall construction is threatening the environment.
