“Defining Dillinger” hands down is the best edited story in this competition so far. The flash in this piece was awesome to say the least. This entry truly defines what this category is all about. It was spot on!
“Tragic Teen” had good flash that sucked you in from the first frame of video but trailed off at the end.
“Lindale” was a good “Gotcha” investigation story were the editor took you on a complete journey. The flash in this story wasn’t over the top and fit with the storyline.
“After the Burn” was well produced but it fell to Honorable Mention due too a couple of questionable cuts.
“Search for Enlightment” was a well told story with a good soundtrack.
I’d like to take a second to give a special nod to our finalist. “Con el Peso de la Ley” is from a Spanish speaking network in Phoenix. The story chronicled what Phoenix Police have available in there arsenal. The cutting in this story was up beat and move the story along. Just not enough to crack into Honorable Mention status.
I know that “Poor Little Town” placed down stairs in the photography portion of BOP. It was one of the better shot and told stories in this category. Although it simply didn’t fit within this category. The only true effect was during the standup. Overall a good category for body of entries.

“Defining Dillinger”... So, far the best thing I have seen. Very polished. Great pace, use of music and sound fx. Flawless editing. Great set ups and look. Really entertaining.
“Tragic Teens”... very good job telling the story without a lot of material. Made good use of the pics of the victim and others involved to recreate what happened on the night in question. Feel of the story was just right.
“Lindale”... good investigative story. used effects sparingly but in the right places. they didn’t distract from the focus of the pkg. well done feature.
“After the Burn”... nice feature. think this could have placed higher without the unnecessary effects surrounding the reporter while talking to the girl, and the static pop that introduced the friends video clips.
“Poor Little Town”... a good story, but only one effect used in the standup. maybe belonged in a different category.
