Going for the World Record - Baby powder keeps Mark Mosier’s skin dry, preventing sweat from turning into skin-boiling steam. This is the start of preparations that will last approximately 50 minutes. Several layers of refrigerated clothes saturated in white flame retardant goop also keeps his body temperature under control while Mosier is engulfed in flames. Eleven months of rigorous preparations and research led up to the 7:45.5 minutes of blazing glory. Eventhough, it’s unofficial until Guiness declares otherwise, but on the driveway of his Piney Run Court home in Sykesville part time stuntman (and full time corrections officer) Mark Mosier BROKE the world record time (2:38) for the longest human burn without oxygen Sunday night, November 12, 2006. Despite the uncooperative wind, Mosier had to endure two burns, but after his second blaze his suit burned for 7 minutes 43.5 seconds, according to the mean time between the two official stopwatches, obliterating the standing record.
