In March, 83 dog teams set out to compete in the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race, an 1,100 journey across Alaska from Anchorage to Nome. Teams cross mountain ranges, travel frozen rivers and pass through many villages en route, the fast of which finish in just more than nine days. Before the start in Anchorage, a member of Gregg Hickmann’s team rests in his compartment on the back of a pickup truck.
