Mandrine’s husband left her in 1996 after she was attacked and became pregnant by Interahamwe soldiers. She is now 38 years old. The youngest of her five children is a product of the rape, so she couldn’t hide what happened to her, as many women attempt to do. Three of her children attend school. Mandrine has no house to live in since the attack. She asked her family for help and now has a small house in progress.
