Best of Photojournalism 2007: Still Photography Rules: Registering for the Contest

Best of Photojournalism 2007 is open to professional photographers, editors and online photojournalists, and there is no entry fee. All entries must have been taken or initially published between January 1st and December 31st, 2006. Photographers do not need to be members of NPPA to enter.

Obtaining Your Contest Identification Code

All photographers must obtain a Contest Identification Code to enter Best of Photojournalism 2007. Please note that:

you must register even if you entered in a previous year
you cannot simply re-use last year's entry code

Obtaining the code is easy: simply complete the online Contest Registration Form, and you will be given your unique Contest Identification Code within minutes.

You must include this 8-digit code in the Object field for ALL the images you enter (see the object field instructions under Preparing your Images for further details).

Your Contest Identification Code will serve as your "name" for the contest. Registered entrants will be emailed with the FTP server address and password for the online image submissions. (Note that FTP is not required: you can also send your digital files to NPPA on CD.)

Contest Registration Checklist

Have you agreed to the Ethics Code? All entries in the Best of Photojournalism 2007 are expected to conform to the Code of Ethics that was approved at the 2004 NPPA Annual Board Meeting at the Poynter Institute.
Have you received your unique Contest Identification Code? Once you complete your registration, you will receive your Contest Identification Code, which you will use for labelling your images. Your code should be an 8-digit number with either 3 or 4 leading zeroes; all ID codes for the 2007 contest will be greater than 00011500.
Have you saved your Contest Identification Code and the FTP instructions? The email with your Contest Identification Code includes the server address, user name, and password for submitting your files by FTP. Please make sure you save these instructions so they are handy when your images are all prepared.
