2nd Place: In Search of the Right Road; Rick Rorrer, 43, has experienced a lot in his life. At age six he was smoking. By ten he was drinking and at age eleven he was put away in a detention home. Now homeless he’s trying to put the pieces back together. “I just want to get that right road. That’s the only one I gotta get, but I can’t figure it out yet,” Rorrer said of his struggle to get back on his feet.
Judge's Comments (Juan): This entry's strong photos and the first-person audio were equally compelling. The photos really showed the day-to-day struggle to survive, the high moments and the lows. The photographer captured a sense of environment, as well as a closeness to the subject and his relationships.
