Honorable Mention: Obesity's Struggle; Bedridden for seven years and weighing 625 pounds, 39-year-old John Keitz does not lose hope for his future. After being evicted from his home in Dundalk, Md., Keitz ends up at a nursing facility for the obese where he receives physical therapy and learns to sit upright for the first time in three years.
Judge's Comments (Deanne): This is an excellent photo essay on a difficult subject and was shot in a fresh way. The obese man does not leave his bed and the photographer was able to shoot a great story in just one location. The praying picture is outstanding.
