3rd Place: Honor After the Fall; Informing military families that loved ones have died in Iraq.
Judge's Comments (Deanne): This is great series of photos. Very powerful and moving photos of something we are normally not able to see - bodies being brought home from Iraq. The photographer captured incredibly intimate moments like the woman sleeping next to her fiancee’s coffin and unforgettable photos like the people looking out the airplane windows at the soldiers bodies being brought into the airplane. The edit was good and tight but it bothered us that it switched to a different family for the final photos.
