Jim Hayes, 55, lives every hour of his life attached to oxygen after he developed asbestosis from working with Burlington Northern Santa Fe railroad depot in Livingston, Mont. Hayes' roomate has asbestosis and both of their fathers died of asbestosis. All of them worked for BNSF. Hayes' mother, Opal Hinman (right), 83, is dying of brain cancer and lived in a plume of contamination coming from the depot. "They (BNSF) have killed and I mean killed so many men; murdered, premeditated murder in my eyes," said Hayes. Hayes and many others living in Livingston blame BNSF on their diseases from exposure to chemicals that BNSF said were safe.
