Like several students at the school in the Trainable Mentally Disabled Program, Johnson's Individual Education Plan allows for him to have a full-time, one-on-one teacher's aide that stays with him throughout the entire school day. Cooper not only looks out for Johnson's mental and emotional needs as he moves between classes throughout the day, but also learns how to listen and communicate with him.
