Maryanne Martin was diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer in 1999 and through an experimental stem-cell transplant, held the disease off for four years. But procedure was never meant to be a cure, only a reprieve. At the end of 2004 the illness began to catch up with her and Maryanne's doctors told her they needed to shift their focus from searching for a cure to making her remaining months as comfortable as possible.
Darell Martin helps his wife Maryanne lay down on their bed. This is not Darell's first experience losing a spouse to cancer. His first wife, Carolyn, died nearly 20 years ago from a rare adrenal cancer leaving him a single father with two children, Jeremy and Joanna.
