UGANDA'S CHILDREN IN CRISIS — A child reaches up to the pharmacy window while waiting for a prescription to be filled at the Paediatric Infectious Diseases Clinic (PIDC) of Mulago Hospital in Kampala, Uganda May 13, 2005. While medications are scarce and expensive, currently, there are approximately 840 children on Anti-Retroviral Treatment at the clinic. It is anticipated that an additional 400+ children will be started on ARV through the PEPFAR program as the program has committed to starting 1,000 children on ARV treatment by the close of March 2006.
