UGANDA'S CHILDREN IN CRISIS — Patients of the Paediatric Infectious Diseases Clinic (PIDC) of Mulago Hospital in Kampala, Uganda, wait for for the staff to begin an afternoon feeding in the hospital's malnutition in-patient ward May 13, 2005. The clinic is one of only a few HIV treatment facilities for pediatrics in Uganda, where it is estimated that there are approximately 100,000 HIV infected children. This picture shows all the cups of the children admitted on the Mwanamugimu Nutrition Ward. The slips of paper correspond to individual cups and individual children and contain notes for specific feeding instructions and quantities.
