"Indonesia 2005: Just another day" March 2005
Jembatan Gambang shantytown (North Jakarta). Training of pigeons is a diffused entertainment in Jakarta slums. It helps to breack the rhythm of the inhabitants' activities regulated by the frequent passing of trains throughout the entire day.
The project "Indonesia 2005:Just another day" aims to report some of the problems afflicting this country in the aftermath of the tsunami tragedy. Jakarta, is a continuously developing megalopolis with 12 million inhabitants. Futuristic buildings, luxury homes and enormous shopping centres are set next to an increasingly large number of shantytowns where people live in appallingly poor conditions and with no hope at all.
